Every year between November 25 and December 10, the whole world speaks with one united voice: there is no justification for violence — including the violence that happens online.
In a time when the digital space has become part of our everyday lives, women are increasingly experiencing hate, intimidation, and symbolic violence on the internet.
📊 The statistics are alarming:
- up to 1 in 3 women experience violence in their digital presence,
- online violence affects women far more often than men — especially activists, migrant women, and women active in public life,
- as many as 85% of women say they have witnessed gender-based violence online,
- and the consequences can be just as painful as those “offline”: fear, withdrawal, self-censorship, a constant sense of threat.
This is why it is so important to talk about responsibility — both that of online platforms and of individual users.
