Our foundation was contacted by Piotr Kołtuniewicz, a journalism student at the University College of Enterprise and Administration in Lublin, who is interested in the topic of gender-based violence. As part of his coursework in television journalism fundamentals, he prepared a journalistic piece devoted to this issue.

One of the key motivations behind his interest was his experience connected with Dom Dobry, which left a strong impression on him and became an impulse for deeper reflection and a desire to expand his knowledge about violence and ways of responding to it.

As part of his work on the piece, Piotr conducted an almost hour-long conversation with a representative of the foundation. The discussion covered, among other things:

  • different types and forms of violence,
  • the mechanisms through which violence operates,
  • strategies for leaving situations of violence,
  • the consequences of experiencing violence,
  • ways of supporting people affected by violence and how to respond when we witness it.

As Piotr says:

“I love conducting interviews and watching films that address important social issues. I want to shed light on them and tell them as stories that genuinely affect people. This piece was created as part of my television journalism classes and gave me the opportunity to engage with a topic that is emotionally powerful and invites reflection.”

We believe that the involvement of students in issues related to violence and human rights is extremely important. Such initiatives not only help spread knowledge, but also build social sensitivity, responsibility, and a sense of agency — qualities that are particularly vital in journalistic work.

We encourage you to watch the prepared material and thank Piotr for his responsible and attentive approach to such an important topic.
