On March 10th at 3:00 PM, another Lublin Women’s March took place. The procession marched under the slogan: The fight continues! For a better, fairer, and equal world for all women! Thank you for your presence, solidarity.
We wanted to draw attention to the universal challenges of women: Lublin residents, Ukrainian refugees living in the city, women with disabilities, LGBTQ+ individuals, women of different ages, etc.
Each person has a woman in their environment and wouldn’t want her to feel less safe, receive lower pay, encounter offensive comments just because she’s a woman. One might think that such problems and gender-based mistreatment are abstract, but it’s not true.
Studies show that in 2021, women more frequently feel discriminated against because of their gender than men (29% of women compared to 3% of men). According to Eurostat’s report, in the private sector, women in equivalent positions to men earn about 15% less. In joint-stock companies, women make up only 16% of the board. As many as 75% of women do not feel safe in the evenings or in taxis. Similar facts and examples can be multiplied, which is why the issue of equality is a common concern for everyone.
