We’ve just wrapped up an incredibly inspiring event! We had the honor of taking part in the “Balanced Online – Keep the Balance” conference, organized by the team of the Library of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin.
It was an intense and important time of discussions about digital violence against women. Our representative took part in a discussion panel dedicated to contemporary forms of cyberviolence and led a workshop on online violence mechanisms, digital safety, and effective response strategies. 💻🛡️
16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
The conference was also a space to highlight the significance of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. This year’s motto — “No Excuse for Online Abuse” — resonates strongly in the Polish context as well.
📊 What do the data show?
📌 1 in 3 Polish women has experienced cyberviolence.
📌 The most common forms include: sexist comments, harassment, sharing intimate content without consent, and deepfakes.
📌 40% of women worldwide have encountered online violence.
Digital violence takes away one’s voice, safety, reputation, and often even work. That is why, during the event, we emphasized one thing above all: Responding is possible — and necessary. 💜💬
✨ What can we do?
✔ document abuses
✔ report harmful content and accounts
✔ strengthen digital safety
✔ support women who are targeted
✔ engage in the 16 Days campaign
Together, we can create an online space free from violence.
There is no excuse for online abuse. Ever. ❌💥
Thank you to the Library of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin for the invitation.
